Family volunteer hours (FVH) are vital to the success of Cathedral School.\u00a0 Volunteer hours strengthen the Cathedral community, keep the school\u2019s operating costs low, and help with day to day operations.\u00a0 In the past, we have not required families to do a set number of hours.\u00a0 Over the years, participation has dropped dramatically and the same families are always volunteering.<\/p>\n
Beginning in June 2010, families were required to log 20 volunteer hours over the course of one year.\u00a0 Hours may be completed by parents, guardians, grandparents or close family members or friends.\u00a0 Each volunteer hour is worth $20.\u00a0 If at the end of the year (the last day of school), you have not completed your 20 hours, you will be assessed $20 for every incomplete volunteer hour.\u00a0 FVH that are not completed will be treated as unpaid tuition.\u00a0 You may opt out of volunteering all together but you will be charged $400 and this amount will be added to your yearly tuition.<\/p>\n
The activities that qualify for FVH are listed below.\u00a0 There may be other opportunities that arise during the school year but will need to be approved by the Development Director.\u00a0 There are ways to eliminate all your hours based on your activity.\u00a0 If you chair any event or if you take over a fundraising event for the entire year (SCRIP, SavAround coupons, etc.) your entire 20 hours will be waived.<\/p>\n
VERY IMPORTANT:<\/b>\u00a0 You are responsible for turning in your log form.\u00a0 We do not keep track of your hours until you turn them in.\u00a0 All log forms MUST be turned in to the school office if you are to get credit for what you have done.<\/p>\n
