I get this question a lot, “How are you liking it?” when referring to being the new Principal at Cathedral School. Honestly, I find it difficult to express my over-whelming emotions of love and enjoyment when it comes to this new role. I cannot and will not call this a job; it is much more than that… I have found my purpose. Up until now, my time as a teacher has been solely in the public sector. After receiving my Master’s Degree from Aurora University in 2012, I went on to teach Physical Education and Health in three school districts and coach football in four districts. The differences I have observed when comparing a public school environment and a private school environment are astounding. At Cathedral, our Catholic mission drives us in every decision the day brings. Accepting God’s call and moving into this leadership position has affirmed my strong Catholic upbringing, as I feel inspired to grow with the students and staff in our faith.
When I first met our school families and staff, I announced that it was “Time to Thrive” at Cathedral School. We are focusing less on discussing ideas, and more on ways to put our plans into action! There are several key components in place to help us move forward and continue to be the same Cathedral School in the way of our Catholic identity, but to progress and THRIVE in our expectations and standards of education. I am thankful to have a talented group of teachers that are committed to best interests of our students and the school’s values. Beyond that, the dedication of our parents who have consciously made the choice of a Catho-lic education for their child(ren) is an immense blessing. All in all, I am astounded by the potential we have to accomplish great things here at Cathedral. I am looking forward to what the rest of the school year has to offer, as well as the many years to come!
