Cathedral Council of Catholic Women

What is CCCW and what do they do every month?!

Did you know that ALL WOMEN of the parish are members of the Cathedral Council of Catholic Women (CCCW)?  We invite all women from the Cathedral parish to participate in CCCW activities and programs that support and promote:

  • Spirituality
  • Service
  • Socialization

We meet once a month from September through May. We begin with a light meal at 6:00 p.m. followed by a business meeting at 6:30 in the school hall. Come share a meal with us, meet new and old friends, listen to social and spiritual speakers, and have the opportunity to participate in activities that support women, education, the parish and the Cathedral school.  You can be as active as YOU want to be.  We look forward to meeting each of you!

Want to see more details about what we do? Look at our membership brochure or calendar of events.

HOLY FAMILY FOOD PANTRY Expand

The pantry provides food on a limited basis to persons who live in the Springfield area and are in need of emergency food assistance.  People in need may call the pantry for assistance. Cathedral participates by collecting food for the pantry through our school and church activities. Parishioners may place donated food in containers located in the church hallway.  Volunteers are welcome.

HELPING HANDS FOOD MINISTRY Expand

Cathedral is proud of our team of volunteers that provides meals to individuals who stay at the Helping Hands Homeless Shelter.  We prepare home cooked meals on the 4th and 5th Saturdays of each month as well as several Sundays.  Those who do not cook can help in other ways. If you are interested in being a part of this ministry to “feed the hungry,” please call Beverly Hoffman at 487-7824. A breakfast planning meeting is held annually in January as each group plans their menus for the entire calendar year.  If you cannot attend but want to participate, it is important to let us know so that you can be assigned to a group.

BREADLINE SUNDAY Expand

On the weekend before Thanksgiving, St. John’s Breadline holds its only fundraiser for the year. We sell loaves of bread donated by a local grocery chain after each weekend Mass. Proceeds go to the breadline. Anyone wishing to volunteer to sell the bread is welcome.

FUNERAL LUNCHEON VOLUNTEERS Expand

Parish members furnish and serve a prearranged meal for families following funeral services upon request.  Parishioners are invited to provide food items, serve, and clean up after the meal.  Volunteers are called for periodic help. Please call the parish office for more information.

CATHEDRAL CARES Expand

Cathedral parish now has an organized program to provide meals and rides to parishioners in need – it’s called Cathedral Cares. If you like to prepare meals and would provide a meal to parishioners in need whether it is a family with a new baby or someone who is ill or recovering from surgery, we need you. Or would you like to assist in driving parishioners to mass? We have parishioners who cannot drive themselves and have no other way to get to church to worship with our parish community. No special skills are required, but all volunteers must complete Protecting Gods Children. There is no fee to recipients, and this is all volunteer driven. More details and sign up form are available here. Contact parish nurse Adrienne Andrews at 217-638-0333 for more information.
