CCCW & Knight’s of Columbus Council #16126 Scholarship Application

Completed scholarship applications, essay, and teacher evaluations must be submitted and received by the Cathedral Rectory by midnight on Friday, May 12, 2023.

All applications are reviewed by the scholarship committee using the following weighted percentages:

50%    Service (30% service to Parish, 10% service to community, 10% service to school)
25%    One page essay
25%    Teacher evaluations

Please expand each of the sections below to see the requirements for each component of this application.

I. Service Expand

We recognize that students share their time and talent in the parish, community, and school, therefore, volunteer service provided in any of these venues will count in this scholarship application. We also recognize that this past year has presented some challenges in opportunities to serve. Think of ways that you have helped others...

  • Have you been an altar server at Mass?
  • Did you help clean the pews in church or in the chapel?
  • Have you helped as a greeter, lector, or tithe collector?
  • Have you distributed bulletins after mass or placed new missals in the pews?
  • Did you help decorate church or school for special occasions? Christmas?
  • Have you assisted CCCW with fundraising activities or assisted at the parish picnic?
  • Do you donate food to the food pantry? Or hats and mittens to the poor?
  • Do you help an elderly person in your neighborhood? (cut grass, rake leaves, shovel snow without being paid)
  • Do you help tutor other students?
  • Have you helped your teacher after class?

Provide a detailed list of recipient of service, date of service, service provided, time spent on the service and submit it using the form below.

EXAMPLE:

Recipient of Service Date Service Provided Time
Parish Jan 1, 2022 Altar server 60 min.
Community Feb. 1, 2022 Prepared meal for Ronald McDonald House residents 90   in.
II. Essay Expand

The essay should be at least 3 paragraphs in length. Please use complete sentences, no abbreviations, and no slang terminology.

The essay should answer the following questions:
